United Airlines signed a $1.1 billion worth firm order (at list prices) with Embraer at Farnborough Airshow on July 16, 2018.

The order is for 25 E175 jets in a 70-seat configuration. According to the plane maker, deliveries are to begin in the second quarter of 2019.

According to a statement by United, the 25 new E-175s are going to replace 25 CRJ-700 aircraft currently flown by United Express partners.

In addition to the contract with Embraer, the U.S. carrier also signed an order for four 787-9 aircraft from Boeing as part of wide-body fleet replacement strategy. Deliveries are expected in 2020.
