Incredible Video of Jet Flying Feet Above Beachgoers
Incredible video of jet flying feet above beachgoers
This is the incredible video of jet flying close to the heads of sunbathers on one of the “scariest” runways in the world on the Caribbean island of St Maarten. A tourist has captured the nail-biting moment a passenger plane flew not far above holidaymakers’ heads as it approached to land. Maho Beach is one of the world's best plane-spotting locations, with thousands of brave holidaymakers flocking there every day to stand directly under the flight path as passenger jets buzz overhead. Despite signs warning guests that jet blast can cause serious injury, plenty still try to capture the perfect ‘plane selfie’ (crowds gather on a daily basis to snap selfies and record video of low-flying aircraft).
In this incredible video, the plane is seen approaching the shore before the camera pans out and shows it fly close over the beach, which is teeming with holiday-makers. Beachgoers can be heard shouting and screaming as the jet’s engine roars loudly as it passes just centimeters from their heads. With the busy beach just outside the airport’s boundary it offers a challenge to pilots flying aircraft such as the Boeing 747 seen in the video.
The beach is right next to Princess Juliana airport, the second-busiest in the eastern Caribbean. Its runway is less than half the length of those found at many international airports. Thrillseekers have also been known to hold onto a chain-link fence when a jet is preparing for take-off so they are blasted by the engines and lifted off the ground. With the busy beach just outside the airport's boundary it offers a challenge to pilots flying aircraft such as the Boeing 747 seen in the video.
It's not the first time planes have become terrifyingly close to the beach as they fly in to land at Princess Juliana International, and it probably won't be the last.
