An Ethiopian Airlines (EAL) Airbus A350 made an emergency landing at Mumbai Airport (BOM), India, in the early hours of November 10, 2020. The aircraft is believed to have suffered a reported technical snag.

The incident occurred when Ethiopian Airlines cargo aircraft, registered as ET-ATY, was en route from Riyadh (RUH) to Mumbai (BOM). Following an initial report made by Mumbai International Airport (MIAL), during the flight ET690, fumes were noticed by the flight crew. The technical issue reportedly was related to a detected hydraulic leakage.

A spokesman of MIAL confirmed that the cargo flight ET-690, with eight crew members on board, had completed a safe landing. According to a statement, near the runway where the Airbus 350 landed, three fire tenders, one rescue van, and other rescue team vehicles were deployed from the Mumbai Fire Brigade.

"There was a full emergency call at the Mumbai Airport on Sunday for Ethiopian cargo aircraft. Vehicles were sent by Mumbai fire brigade and attended as per the protocol and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)“, the spokesman of MIAL said.

Fortunately, none of the rescue team vehicles were required to enter the runway and remained outside on standby. The spokesman verified that no injuries were reported during the incident.
