Titan Airways adds Airbus A321P2F freighter
Titan Airways, a British cargo airline, plans to enhance its freighter fleet with three additional Airbus A321P2F (passenger to freight) converted cargo aircraft. The airline took delivery of its first A321P2F freighter under the lease agreement with an American lessor BBAM.
The converted Airbus A321P2F, registered as G-POWY, which had previously operated for Thomas Cook Airlines, joined the Titan Airways fleet on January 7, 2021. According to FlightRadar.com data, a day after delivery, the aircraft completed a flight from Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), Dubai to Hurghada International Airport (HRG), Egypt.
After the collapse of Thomas Cook Airlines in 2019, the G-POWY, previously registered as G-DHJH, was transferred to the ST Engineering facility in Singapore for conversion. The passenger jet was converted into a freighter by ST Engineering and Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW), the joint venture of Airbus.
After the conversion, the aircraft has a cargo capacity volume that reaches up to 14 full container positions in the main deck and up to 10 container positions in the lower deck. This is equivalent to 207 cubic meters. The gross payload is up to 28 tonnes of cargo.
Later in 2021, the G-POWY reportedly will be used for Titan Airways Royal Mail Air Service between London Stansted Airport (STN), England, and Belfast International Airport (BHD).
In total, Titan Airways has commitments for three A321P2Fs: aircraft registered as G-POWY, G-POWZ, and G-OATW. The cargo air carrier will reportedly take the delivery of its second A321P2F in the second half of 2021. According to Titan Airways website, two additional Airbus A321P2Fs are scheduled to join the airline later in 2021.
Besides passenger aircraft and the A321P2F, Titan Airways currently has two Boeing 737-400F freighters, able to carry up to 18 tonnes of cargo with a total capacity of 149 cubic meters, in its fleet.
