Indian low-cost carrier SpiceJet intends to operate its Boeing 737 MAX aircraft fleet after a 2.5-year hiatus, from October 5, 2021, reported by the Economic Times. 

SpiceJet is the only operator of the Boeing 737 MAX in India, with 13 of the aircraft type in its fleet.

The Indian aviation regulator had ungrounded the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft on August 26, 2021.

Boeing 737 MAX qualified pilots from SpiceJet are reportedly undergoing aircraft recurrency training at the simulator facility near Delhi.

"The first batch of 20 SpiceJet pilots are doing their training now and will complete it by September 30, 2021,” an anonymous senior airline executive told the Indian media. “The training was held at the SpiceJet Training Academy in Gurgaon and at the Boeing Simulator facility in Noida in Uttar Prades. More pilots will continuously be trained over the coming weeks."

In 2019, SpiceJet had claimed approximately INR 1200 crore ($164 million) from the US-based aircraft manufacturer.
