Airbus doubles its aircraft orders in 2021
European aircraft manufacturer Airbus has doubled its gross intake in 2021 with 771 new aircraft sales (507 net).
The Airbus A320 family aircraft achieved the greater number of gross orders standing at 661 and the Airbus A220 family won 64. Meanwhile, in the widebody aircraft segment, Airbus saw 46 gross orders, including 30 Airbus A330s and 16 Airbus A350s, of which 11 were for the freighter version of A350.
“Our commercial aircraft achievements in 2021 reflect the focus and resilience of our Airbus teams, customers, suppliers and stakeholders across the globe who pulled together to deliver remarkable results. The year saw significant orders from airlines worldwide, signaling confidence in the sustainable growth of air travel post-COVID” said Guillaume Faury, Airbus CEO.
Airbus has also achieved its 2021 delivery target, handing 611 aircraft to 88 customers across the world. Deliveries comprised 483 Airbus A320s, 55 Airbus A350s, 50 Airbus A220s, 18 Airbus A330s, and five Airbus A380 aircraft.
