Caribbean Airlines begins Boeing 737 MAX operations
Caribbean Airlines has begun operations with its Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, marking the jet’s first entry into service.
Caribbean Airlines' Boeing 737 MAX jet, registered as 9Y-CAL, first took off from Piarco International Airport (POS) and touched down at Norman Manley International Airport (KIN), Kingston, Jamaica.

“The 737-8 is the most technologically advanced aircraft in the world and it brings a range of benefits for Caribbean Airlines, our customers, and the environment,” Caribbean Airlines’ CEO, Garvin Medera announced in a press statement.
The airline’s new 737 MAX aircraft has been modeled to have more seats than the carrier’s older aircraft and accommodate 160 passengers: 16 in business class, 36 in Caribbean plus, and 108 in economy class. According to the airline, the new CFM-powered 737 MAX has more legroom, spacious overhead bins, and device charging ports.
The airline currently has a fleet of 17 aircraft, including 10 Boeing 737s and seven ATR 72 aircraft, according to Planespotters.net.
