Vietnam’s Bamboo Airways to start direct Hanoi to Melbourne service
Vietnam’s newest carrier Bamboo Airways has announced that it will start direct flights from Hanoi to Melbourne starting April 27, 2022.
This announcement marks the first-ever direct connection between Melbourne and Hanoi by a Vietnamese carrier.
The airline plans to initially operate one return flight per week on the route, and increase the frequency depending on market demands.
Flights will depart Hanoi at 18:30 local time on Wednesdays and depart Melbourne at 10:00 local time on Thursdays, using Bamboo Airways’ 787-9 Dreamliner. The direct flight will reduce flight time to just over nine hours compared to the 12 hours it would take to fly via transit routes offered by other airlines.

In the announcement ceremony marking its Hanoi-Melbourne service, the airline also announced plans to expand to Europe.
