Plane carrying Donald Trump makes emergency landing after engine failure
A private plane carrying former US president Donald Trump was forced to make an emergency landing in New Orleans on the evening of March 5, 2022, after suffering an engine failure.
According to the Washington Post and Politico, the plane, a Dassault Falcon 900, which was loaned to Trump by a donor, had traveled around 75 miles, reaching an altitude of about 28,000 feet, before being forced to turn around after one of its engines failed.
Other passengers included Secret Service agents, support staff and some of Trump's advisers.
The plane was carrying Trump back to Palm Beach, Florida, after the former president gave a speech at a Republican National Committee-hosted donor retreat in New Orleans.
A Trump representative did not immediately return a request from US media for comment on the incident.
According to media reports, once Trump and his party made it safely to the ground following the emergency landing, his advisers secured another plane from another donor to take him back to Florida.
Trump eventually landed in Palm Beach around 03:00 March 6, 2022.
No injuries were reported.
