Ukrainian TB-2 drones and Su-27 fighters strike back on Snake Island
The Ukrainian Armed Forces released a video showing two Ukrainian Su-27s bombing Snake Island.
In the footage, which appears to have been recorded from a drone, the fighters can be seen flying at low altitude and high speed from the southern side of the island and hitting at least three of the buildings located in the center and on the eastern part of the compound before releasing infrared countermeasure flares.
Seconds after the detonation of the last bomb, two secondary explosions take place on the eastern part of the island, which could hint at an ammunition depot or fuel storage being destroyed.

The attack, which took place between May 6 and 7, 2022, follows several days of suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD) missions on Snake Island, carried out by the Turkish-made Bayraktar TB-2 armed drones operated by the Ukrainian Air Force.
Low-altitude anti-air defense systems were destroyed, including a Tor missile system and at least two 9K35 Strela-10 missile systems. The TB-2s also destroyed two Raptor patrol boats and a Serna-class landing craft as it was delivering another Tor system to the island.
These last few days have demonstrated that the Russian military has not yet destroyed the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian Air Force, despite earlier claims.
On April 20, 2022, the Ukrainian Air Force said it had received spare parts and components from its allies, which helped restore and repair its fighter fleet.
