ANA to resume A380 ‘Flying Honu’ service to Hawaii

Japan’s All Nippon Airways (#ANA) will resume operations of its Airbus A380 ‘Flying Honu’ for services between Japan and Hawaii. 

According to an official statement issued on May 10, 2022, the airline plans to resume operations of its Airbus A380 wide-body aircraft on the Tokyo Haneda (HND)–Honolulu (HNL) route on May 28, 2022, to accommodate rising passenger demand. 

Between May 28 and June 30, 2022, the Tokyo-based carrier plans to operate four flights per week on the HND-HNL route as it continues to recover its international network. The airline also said it will increase the flight frequency on the route out of HND airport to a total of five operations per week between July 1 and October 29, 2022.  

ANA also plans to add an additional twice-weekly service to Honolulu from Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT) and seven daily roundtrip flights connecting Tokyo and Hawaii.  

Flights between Tokyo and Honolulu will be operated by its outstanding ‘Flying Hono’ Airbus A380 fleet, consisting of three passenger jets painted in different liveries.  

The first of ANA’s three customized A380-800 jet, registered JA381A, which joined the carrier’s fleet in March 2019, is painted in blue to represent the Hawaiian (HA) blue sky. The second wide-body, which ANA received in May 2019, registered JA382A, stands out for its Hawaiian (HA) ocean emerald green livery. The last member of ANA’s A380 fleet, registered JA383A, features an orange livery, inspired by the Hawaiian (HA) sunset. 

All three of ANA’s A380 aircraft are designed to fly up to a total of 520 passengers in its premium layout seating, which offers 383 seats in Economy class and 60 coach seats in the main deck.
