Aer Lingus aircraft diverts; makes emergency landing at Bradley Intl Airport
An Aer Lingus flight had to divert and then make an emergency landing all in one day at Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Connecticut.
Flight EI133 was on its way to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) on August 9, 2022, when it diverted to BDL due to severe weather.
The aircraft, an Airbus A330, stayed at BDL until the weather cleared. When it departed to continue on its journey to BOS, the aircraft experienced an emergency with an engine compressor failure and fire coming from the engine, according to IAFF Local S-15 CT State Firefighters.
Netizens were able to capture the aircraft mid-air with one of its engines visibly on fire.

Aer Lingus confirmed via a statement sent to AeroTime that flight EI 133 was required to divert to Bradley airport due to thunderstorms in the Boston area.
“While continuing its journey from Bradley to Boston the aircraft suffered a technical issue and was required to turn back shortly after take-off. The aircraft, with 309 customers on board, landed safely at Bradley airport at 17:27 local time, and as per normal procedures was met by emergency services as a precaution upon arrival. All customers and crew disembarked safely,” Aer Lingus said.
